Coaches and Board of Directors
Coach Cora started her competitive swimming career at the age of five years old and continued swimming until she was a Division 1 swimmer at the University of Vermont. Once her swimming career ended, she started her coaching career giving back to the sport she loves. Her extensive coaching resume includes thirteen years of being the Head Coach for the Burlington Tennis Club in Vermont, a Coach for Green Mountain Aquatics (a USA club team) in Vermont, and the two seasons as the Assistant Coach of at University of Vermont Women’s Swimming & Diving Team, one season as the Marlins Assistant Coach and two years as the Assistant Coach for Wilbraham & Monson Academy where she is a Middle School Math Teacher.
Marlins Story and Swimming Life: Coach Wilson comes to the EL Marlins team as an eager new coach this season. Although he is new to us this isn’t the first time he’s dipping his toe in the chlorinated water. Coach Wilson began coaching as a volunteer for the Wilbraham and Monson Academy Titans. Coach Wilson was born and raised in Monson and was a member of the Monson dolphins, he swam against the EL Marlins growing up. His competitive swimming career started when he was 5. He swam on a wide variety of teams from Monson dolphins in middle school to the Titans and PVAA in highschool, and the UMass Amherst Club swim team in college. His favorite event is the 50 free.
Out of the Pool Life: Coach Wilson works as a Lieutenant / EMT for the Monson Fire Department and is excited to be starting his career in Nursing in the pediatric Emergency Department at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester starting in December.
Coach Lyric joins the Marlins this season as a brand new coach! Lyric was born and raised in Springfield, Massachusetts and started her swimming career as a Marlin back in the fall of 2012. She continued her swimming career as a Minnechaug Regional High School swimmer 2014-2018, and also swam for the PVAA USA team 2016-2017. Coach Lyric went on to swim for Westfield State University in 2018-2019. Although this is Coach Lyric’s first time as a coach, she has been a swim instructor for quite a few years, working in East Longmeadow for Pine Knoll and at the Springfield Jewish Community Center.
Out of the Pool Life: Coach Lyric is currently working on her
Master’s in Exercise Physiology, focused in Human
Performance, at Springfield College. She is also a paraprofessional
for East Longmeadow Public Schools and a performer at Six Flags New
England. She loves all things Disney and food (especially pasta)!
Marlins Story and Swimming Life:
Coach Bella joined the Marlins coaching staff in 2023. She began
teaching group swim lessons in 2022 and was a volunteer coach for
the ELHS girl’s volleyball summer league team.
Although Coach Bella is new to the coaching staff she has been a
part of the Marlins swim team since 5th grade. Coach Bella spent
many Saturday mornings at the ELHS pool racing and spending time
with her amazing team since the age of 10. Coach Bella swam in a
variety of events when she was younger but as she got older and
progressed into swimming with the East Longmeadow High School team
she refined into primarily swimming backstroke and freestyle. Coach
Bella’s favorite event is the 100 back.
Outside pool life:
Coach Bella is a full time student at Western New England University, As a business major she often puzzles over the many intricacies of Microsoft Excel (but is quickly learning the ropes). You’ll often find her in her dorm room reading books, or at the WNE pool guarding. Over the summer you’ll find her guarding the pine knoll pool as a lifeguard for the ELRD.Outside of work and school Coach Bella is learning to golf and is hoping to start up a women’s golf club at WNE!
